The President of the Coscharis Group, Dr. Cosmas Maduka, has explained that the need to have a solid after-sales support base for the ranges of “iconic vehicles” its subsidiaries market, informed the establishment of a training school to produce technicians in-house.
Speaking through a representative at the recent graduation ceremony of the CG-Eko LLP Training Academy in Ikeja, Lagos, Maduka said that investing in an efficient after-sales support was a reflection of the desire to do more than selling new vehicles.

The Coscharis founder, whose remarks were read on his behalf by the Deputy Group Managing Director, Mr. Okey Nwuke, informed guests that the establishment of the academy was also in tandem with the group’s philosophy of building an institution that is timeless in its relevance.
He disclosed that the growing need to train unemployed youths in after-sales service and fill in the vacuum created by the dearth of qualified technicians, was also a major factor, because “we had to embark on hiring of expatriates from other countries to man our after-sales facilities.”
Dr. Maduka further said in his speech, “Thanks to the Lagos state government, they identified with our vision and tapped into it via a public private partnership, which eventually birthed the CG-Eko LLP Training Academy.
“Since admitting the first set of trainees in 2013, the academy has successfully wheeled out 41 graduates till date. Majority of the graduands here today have been absorbed into our organisation, some employed by other organizations, while some have become after-sales facility entrepreneurs.
In his remarks, the Training Manager, Sunday Tanimowo, said the graduands passed through series of professional theoretical and hands-on/practical training in aspects of automobile engineering, ranging from repairs, service, maintenance, troubleshooting, workshop practice, digital electronics, leadership, management, CRM, to product knowledge.
Tanimowo stated, “The journey of today’s celebration however, started on Thursday, August 1, 2013, when the first batch of trainees (18 in number) was admitted into the Training Academy. The second and third batch started lectures in 2014 and 2015 respectively.”
