Ozonna Soludo is proving to be the true son of his father and that he has the genes of greatness in him. The son of Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo- the ex- governor of CBN and brain behind the consolidation of Nigerian banks is walking in his father’s strides though on a different path. He is exploring and redefining music with the bravery and excellence typical of the Soludos. Standing out from the crowd, he insists on doing quality music informed by his personal experiences instead of the short-lived commercial clutters we have around.
“I believe in giving whatever I do my all and I don’t spare anything to get it done” says the New York based Nigerian. He stated this while giving reasons for engaging an amazing team in production of his songs and videos. His star-studded team includes the Grammy Award-winning producer Scott Jacoby who has produced John Lennon, Vampire Weekend, and Alicia Keys. He is also working with the Grammy-nominated producer Jimmy Greco who has worked with Beyoncé, Paramore, Jennifer Lopez, Miley Cyrus and hit-making songwriter/producer Russ DeSalvo who has had a spell with superstars like Celine Dion, Trisha Yearwood, and Santana.
The calm but charismatic 22 year old is taking a chance on fresh and charming sounds instead of the same old same old. The song writer and singer who left Nigeria at a tender age for London where he studied Music Theater at the Institute of Contemporary Music believes the path to greater recognition is rooted in the messages he conveys within his songs.
The amazing thing about this young lad is that he makes no effort to sound like anyone and he is certainly hard to imitate. His new Extended Play (EP) with five fresh and well-rounded harmonies, rich lyrics and energetic sounds positively refreshes the soul of listeners. His songs are such that the young people and adults can relate with.
Following up the electrifying tracks with amazing visuals positions him as an excellent music performer and an easy target for awards. Tracks like Believe it to see it and Wonderland whose videos were shot in the safari wild of South Africa by the talented New Yorker- Blake Farber deviates from artificiality and normalness and exudes a natural feel and originality.
Ozonna’s ability to skillfully blend diverse rhythms, penning insightful lyrics and vocals ranging from bass to falsetto gives his arresting fusion of pop, dance and African rhythms a warming and an interesting feel. These skills are creatively expressed in his debut five-song suite Extended Play (EP) titled “Believe It to See It”. The EP contains tracks like the inspiring- “Believe It, To See It” track, the feel good- “We Glow”, the love themed- “Wonderland”, the social commentary- “Corrupt Mind” and the life affirming- “Smile”.
